Iron Spider – Behind The Scenes
One of the highlights of Avengers Infinity Wars was the iron spiderman suit. I like Ironman but the Iron Spider stood out to me. So I decided to make a shot of the lego version. To do it I used the figure and building from the Sanctum Santorum set, the same set as the character I used for Doctor Strange. Check out my review of the set here.
Here is the shot I decided to edit.
My first task was to cut Spiderman out and place a better shot I’d taken of the background so it wasn’t blurred. (I’d take some without the character at various apertures so I could choose my favourite once I’d got into Lightroom.
I increased the brightness of the mini-figure and very slightly pushed the levels on the red to make him stand out. I used the selection tool to create a new layer for his eyes then increased the brightness so they stood out even more. I added a little gaussian blur to try and make them glow a bit too.
Next I added a radial gradient layer from black to transparent to darken the background and reduced the opacity.
Effects
I started the effects by adding some sand and dust. To give an action feel I added some sparks and smoke. The I used a lens flare brush to add some light to the edges of spiderman and non his hands.
I used a colour dodge layer to add highlights to his talons. THey’re about to fire.
At this point I felt I needed to rotate Spiderman to add more dynamism. I also added another gradient layer to the bottom left corner to add a white light source to the image.
The Final Image
And here it is, the final image of lego iron spiderman. I hope you like it. Please let me know what you think.
