Stormbringer Ninjago Dragon Review
Ninjago’s Jay and Zane battle Daddy No Legs and Muzzle with Stormbringer, the dragon in this Lego set 70652. In the series, they battle to get the dragon armour (included in the set.) But what is the set like?
The Minifigures
This set includes 4 Mini-Figures. Starting with the good guys we get Jay and Zane.
Here is Jay, as posed for his elemental powers shot which you can see in my previous post. He is a good figure, printed on the body and legs. He comes with a selection of swords and daggers and a sheath on his back to carry some of them in.
Next we have Zane. Again, he’s a well printed mini-figure and bow and arrow, a sheath and a sword. Usually Zane is the bow and arrow guy but I actually really like his sword. It’s not the standard moulded sword, instead you make it but I thought it looked good.
Moving on to the bad guys. First up we have:
Daddy No Legs. Daddy No Legs is a dragon hunter and he comes complete with his chain to catch them and a sword. I thought this was quite an interested figure as he is a body, a head, and you build the bottom half. The four legs are pretty good for posing although they do move a bit easily when playing with him. Not a big deal but something to bear in mind.
Where there is Daddy No Legs, there is Muzzle, his trusty side kick. He comes with a long weapon and again I think he is a well printed mini-figure. He has great looking armour and is a welcome addition to the collection.
Overall I think the baddies are a bigger draw in this set. Probably because I have a lot of ninja already from various other sets. The baddies however are new and that earns them bonus points.
Dragon Armour
This set comes with a dragon chest plate on a pedastool which represents the prize for the winner. It looks pretty good but I must confess it isn’t a major part of our play with this set. Don’t get me wrong, it’s very ornamental and does look good.
Stormbringer
The main part of this set is the dragon Stormbringer.
Building it was pretty good fun. There is quite a good variety between the body, head and tail. The tail can be swiped but I found this meant it was quite hard to pose the dragon. Any small movement and it turns completely to the left or right. This isn’t a major issue but it does get annoying when you’re playing and trying to fly the dragon around.
The legs are posable easily as are the feet and claws.
There is a seat for Jay to sit in and the body is sturdy enough to play with.
The head is fantastic. It looks amazing with lots of moveable parts to pose it however you want. The mouth opens and reveals two lightning shooters which are great for playing with. They’re fairly quick to reload and they are fast enough to move a lego mini-figure a fair distance when it hits them. That has been a source of lots of laughs.
Conclusion
The dragon has been a lot of fun to play with and this set it well worth it. I’d also recommend it for the bad guy mini-figures. You won’t be disappointed.
