Lego Jawa Battle

Tatooine Battle Pack – Review

The Lego Tatooine Battle Pack recreates one of the iconic scenes from Star Wars A New Hope. Can the set live up to the film? Let’s find out.

This set has a fairly low price point and is almost worth it just for the two Jawa and Tusken Raider. You also get a droid but strangely not R2D2. My memory may be fairly me but I’m sure in the film it was R2D2 and not the R3T2 supplied with this kit. That being said I haven’t seen this droid before so it is nice to add it to the collection.

The Mini-Figures

The mini-figures are perhaps the main draw for this set. There are two Jawa. Even better, they are distinct from each other which is fantastic in my opinion.

As you can see they are both different (body printing) and both the smaller mini-figures. I can understand why but I would much prefer it if I could articulate the legs. It doesn’t affect play too much – even when they’re holding their stud guns.

The Tusken Raider is another good mini-figure for the collection.

You’ll notice the printing on the body and the legs and the head is well executed in my opinion.

In addition to the figures there is also a droid – R3 T2.

I’m not too familiar with this droid but it is well done.

In my opinion the mini-figures are a major reason you might want to get this battle pack. I can imagine some people buying it a couple of times just to get the Jawa in a relatively cheap set.

Service Vehicle

The service vehicle is a quick but surprisingly fun build.

It comes with two stud shooters which are pretty fun to play with. There is plenty of space for both Jawa to ride although there is no apparent steering wheel or means of actually driving it.

At the back there is a crane and space to carry their tools. You’re supplied with a hammer and a spanner. The crane is well capable of carrying the droid and this is also pretty good for playing with the set.

Conclusion

Overall this is a decent set for the price point. It’s quick to build and a lot of collectors will get it primarily to the mini-figures. However, it has been a lot of fun playing with the set and it’s only let down by the lack of R2D2.
